Every year Punjab health department advertises a lot of vacancies for the youth of Pakistan. Different categories involve different management and technical position. The management position is mostly of Admin.
The technical position is for consultant physicians, biomedical engineers, and pharmacists. The consultant and bio-medical engineers are mostly for the hospital sector.
The pharmacist is divided into 3 main categories. One top priority which works with Pakistan drug regulatory authority. The 2nd position is for drug inspector. The other pharmacist work for the hospital pharmacy setup.
The pharmacist working with Pakistan drug regulatory authority commonly known as DRAP is an administrative position. He controls the medicine prices and implementation of Drug rules in the pharmaceutical industry. He is responsible for the technical inspection of regulatory affairs within the pharmaceutical industry.
The 3rd number is for hospital pharmacist which works mostly in teaching hospitals. He is responsible for the hospital’s pharmaceutical procurement and stock management. It is very important that the hospital pharmacist works directly under the supervision medical superintendent of the hospital.
There is a pharmacy technician who works under the supervision of a hospital pharmacist who manages the hospital pharmacy. They report on a daily basis to the hospital pharmacist on the availability of medicine. The hospital pharmacist should know the market rates and new brands of medicine.
The third one is drug inspector. The drug inspector rules the private pharmacies and clinics working in Pakistan. He implements the drug rules in order to manage the drug guidelines given by DRAP. The drug inspector is a management position with more authority as compared to hospital pharmacists.
The Drug inspector is responsible for every single medicine validation available in any medical store.
Ensuring Compliance: Conducting inspections of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, drug distribution centers, and pharmacies to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and quality standards.
Monitoring Drug Quality: Inspecting and sampling pharmaceutical products, including raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods, to ensure their quality, safety, and efficacy.
Documentation and Reporting: Preparing detailed inspection reports, documenting observations, violations, and non-compliance issues found during inspections, and submitting them to the relevant authorities.
Adhering to Standards: Verifying that pharmaceutical products are manufactured, stored, and distributed in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Storage Practices (GSP), and Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
Investigating Complaints: Conduct investigations into complaints related to drug quality, counterfeit medicines, adverse drug reactions, and other pharmaceutical-related incidents.
Licensing and Registration: Assessing applications for drug manufacturing licenses, wholesale licenses, and pharmacy registrations, and conducting inspections to verify compliance before granting or renewing licenses.
Public Awareness: Educating and creating awareness among healthcare professionals, drug manufacturers, distributors, and the general public about drug regulations, safety measures, and the importance of quality medicines.
Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborating with other regulatory bodies, law enforcement agencies, and healthcare professionals to share information, coordinate efforts, and take appropriate actions against violators of drug laws.
Training and Capacity Building: Conducting training sessions and workshops for drug manufacturers, distributors, and healthcare professionals to enhance their understanding of drug regulations and quality standards.
How become a drug inspector is 3 step process. The pharmacist was recruited through Punjab public service commission and the National Testing Service Pakistan. The total seats are divided into 3 categories which were already mentioned above.
There are many ways to prepare for any exam. but the most important one is to use past paper techniques.
1- The first step is that submit an application online via the public service commission or any private testing agency allocated by the government of Pakistan.
2- Start preparing for the exam and prepare it through books, notes, and previous papers.
3- if you get successful in the written exam, start preparing for the interview and your original documents for verification.
4- The successful candidates will get a recommendation from the relevant authority.
5- The final list will show the recommended list of candidates.
